Night Listener; The True Story & Movie

February 12, 2007

Well I finally saw it. I wanted to see it when it was out in the theaters but finding a sitter is always a hassle.

I saw an interview with Robin Williams before the film came out so I knew it was based on a true story. It’s wild to think someone could have a lengthy relationship (six years!) with someone and that person be fictitious. This “boy” actually had a phone friendship with Fred Rodgers as well. It sounds like quite a few famous people were taken in.

A girlfriend of mine said that she found the movie a bit choppy, she didn’t like the flow of it and it was hard to follow. I found the first half of the movie to be a bit choppy but it was easy enough for me to follow. I love Sandra Oh I wish she had played a bigger part in the movie.

It was kind of creepy thinking of this boy who seemed so real to be the figment of a sick woman’s (Vicki Fraginals) psyche. Very sad actually they think she had factitious disorder.

I would rate this movie about seven out of ten. The fact that it’s based on a true story is what drew me to it to begin with and what make’s me interested in it enough to go around and do a bit of internet snooping to find out more about the true part of it.

Here is piece on Night Listener The True Story.
